Shungite is a wonderful stone to use in meditation, it helps you focus and calms your mind. As it can relieve worries, having it near your bed may help you destress whereby improving your sleep. It is believed to soak up any negative energies and aid in balancing emotions. It has a high vibration that can assist in bringing your spiritual body back into the physical plane. It can help increase our energy levels and give you clarity when you are feeling confused, by unlocking solutions you may not have even thought about. It is believed that Shungite can shield you from EMF emissions. Making this a very useful stone to have around your electronic devices, such as computers, mobile phones, microwaves and Wi-Fi routers.

Since ancient times, Shungite has traditionally been infused in water and used for various issues, including: arthritis, allergies, chronic fatigue, and autoimmune disease. It is alleged that if Shungite has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, it may benefit your health. However, there is no current clinical evidence to support this theory.

Due to its structure, Shungite is technically not a crystal. It is a mineraloid, as are Opal, Amber and Obsidian.

Something to be mindful of when purchasing Shungite, is to try and recognise if you are acquiring an authentic product. Only real Shungite will give you the benefits of its significant properties, such as grounding, cleansing, and healing.

When you hold it in your hand for quite awhile, it will leave some black residue, especially when it is raw Shungite. Although even processed and polished Shungite stones, can leave a small amount of residue behind. This is because there is a high percentage of carbon in Shungite composition. This is a hard thing to imitate.

Although, depending on the way a Shungite piece is produced, it may be stripped of excess residue.
